West Ham v Leicester – team news & stats as Moyes takes charge of first home game

David Moyes

TEAM NEWS

West Ham manager David Moyes remains without injured trio Javier Hernandez, Michail Antonio and James Collins for his first home game in charge. Predict the game

Andre Ayew has recovered from illness and Marko Arnautovic is available as a nasty-looking injury against Watford turned out to be only a swollen thumb.

Leicester manager Claude Puel has no fresh injury worries and has suggested he will keep changes to a minimum.

Defender Robert Huth and midfielder Matty James remain sidelined.

MOTD COMMENTATOR’S NOTES

Simon Brotherton: “There can’t be many managers who have to stand on the touchline listening to cries of ‘sack the board’, ‘you’re not fit to wear the shirt’ and ‘you destroyed our club’, while watching their first match in charge end in ignominious defeat.

“But that was the background to David Moyes’ hostile baptism at Vicarage Road last Sunday. Judging by his post-match comments, the fans aren’t the only ones hoping for more from the players. NaijaBet.com

“The reaction on and off the field at the London Stadium will be interesting, with Leicester providing the opposition for Moyes’ first home game.

“The Foxes didn’t manage a single shot on target last week against Manchester City but are unbeaten in their last four away matches.”

Everton Europa League loss to Atalanta ‘leaves bad taste’

Everton caretaker boss David Unsworth

Everton’s 5-1 Europa League loss to Atalanta leaves “a bad taste in the mouth” of their supporters, says caretaker manager David Unsworth. Predict this week Premier League

Just 17,431 turned up at Goodison Park to watch the Blues suffer a humiliating defeat in the final home group game of this season’s failed European campaign.

It leaves them bottom of Group E with just one point from five games.

“When you put on the shirt you have to play with pride and effort and they didn’t do that,” Unsworth said.  NaijaBet.com

Speaking to BT Sport, he added: “It was a dead rubber but I spoke before the game and said our fans had paid good money to come and see this. They leave with a bad taste in their mouth and so do I.”

Unsworth, who also branded Thursday’s result and performance “unacceptable”, made a number of changes for the game, including bringing in 19-year-old midfielder Beni Baningime, who he felt was his side’s best player.

He has now overseen four losses in his six games in charge since succeeding Ronald Koeman on a temporary basis, during which they have conceded 16 goals. Continue reading Everton Europa League loss to Atalanta ‘leaves bad taste’

Manager Arsene Wenger said Arsenal “had got the job done” by advancing to the Europa League knockout stage as Group H winners despite losing at Cologne. Next game: Burnley vs Arsenal

A penalty by Sehrou Guirassy, after Mathieu Debuchy was harshly adjudged to have fouled the French striker, earned Cologne only their second win in 17 Bundesliga and Europa League games this season.

The closest the Gunners came to scoring was when Francis Coquelin hit the post when the game was goalless in the first half.

With one match remaining, Arsenal have 10 points from five games, four ahead of Cologne and Red Star Belgrade, who were held to a goalless draw by Bate Borisov. Predict Burnley vs Arsenal
