Suarez score as Barcelona beat Leicester City 4-2

Football legend Pelé is coming to visit Nigeria

Football legend, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, popularly known as Pelé, will be in Nigeria for a two-day visit between August 11-12.

The visit will focus on youth empowerment and development as it will involve teenagers, their parents, football officials and the Nigeria Football Federation. It will be an opportunity for little kids to see the famous maestro live in flesh when he visits the country.

This will be the Brazilians second visit to Nigeria after his first visit in 1967 when the country was torn apart by the civil war. His presence allowed for a two-day cease-fire to enable both sides to watch an exhibition between his then side Santos and the Nigerian national team known as the Green Eagles..

City’s new signing Sane happy to play under Guardiola

Manchester City new signing Leroy Sane is confident he would evolve into a complete player under manager Pep Guardiola but the 20-year-old has urged patience as he adjusts to life in the Premier League.

The German winger scored eight league goals and set up another six in the Bundesliga last season before he joined City from Schalke 04 on a five-year deal on Tuesday.

“One of the reasons I decided to join City was Pep Guardiola; he convinced me to come here and that I can continue to progress. I know I will learn a lot under him and now I can take the next step in my career,” Sane told the club website (www.mancity.com).

“I followed Pep at Barcelona and at Bayern (Munich) where he achieved a lot and worked really well with young players. I think he can make me a more complete player,”

“I will need a bit of time to start with because it’s another league and there’s a different style of play, but I think I can adapt quickly.”

Schalke confirm signing of Coke from Sevilla

Schalke 04 have agreed to sign Sevilla right back Coke on a three-year contract, the Bundesliga side confirmed on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old spent five years at Sevilla after joining from Rayo Vallecano in 2011 and scored twice in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool in the Europa League final in May.

He also participated in Sevilla’s Europa League triumphs of the previous two years, scoring in the shootout win over Benfica in the 2014 final.

“In Coke, we have signed a very good defensive player with considerable international experience,” Schalke sporting director Christian Heidel said in a statement on the club website (www.schalke04.de).

Everton sign Gueye from Aston Villa

Everton manager Ronald Koeman signed Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Aston Villa for £7.1 million on Tuesday.

Koeman triggered Gueye’s buyout clause last week and the 26-year-old has agreed a four-year contract with the Premier League club.

Gueye is Koeman’s second signing since the Dutchman arrived from Southampton to replace the sacked Roberto Martinez in June.

His only previous deal was a swoop for Fulham goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.

Villarreal signed Italy midfielder Roberto Soriano from Sampdoria on Tuesday as the Spanish club look to bolster their squad ahead of the Champions League play-offs later this month.

Soriano, 25, has signed a five-year deal with Villarreal, who finished fourth in La Liga last season, the club said on their website.

The 44-year-old Englishman is Carlo Ancelotti’s assistant at the Bavarian giants and is preparing for the new Bundesliga season, which starts on August 26, with Bayern chasing a fifth straight league title.

Clement was sacked as Derby County coach in February, after eight months in charge, while Allardyce was confirmed as Roy Hodgson’s successor last month and he has appointed Sammy Lee as his assistant coach. Naijabet

According to reports, Clement, who had a brief spell coaching England’s Under 21s this year, was offered a job-share role with the senior side in Allardyce’s back room staff, but has turned it down to focus on his work at Bayern.
