Samuel Kalu and his Nigeria teammates at AS Trencin emerged winners in a battle of the Nigerians as the qualifying round of the Uefa Champions League took centre stage on Wednesday night.
Slovenian champions, Olimpija Ljubljana, who have Nigerian striker, Blessing Eleke, in their fold, welcomed Slovakian champions, AS Trencin, complete with their Nigeria quartet of Kalu, Rabiu Ibrahim, Aliko Bala and Christopher Maduka.

Trencin sped into the lead and were four goals up inside the first 32 minutes as Jamie Lawrence, Samuel Kalu, Rangelo Janca and Jakub Holubek scored past Olimpija goalkeeper Aleksander Seliga.
Etien Velikonja reduced the deficit for Olimpija in the 34th minute as the comeback gathered steam.
Miha Zajc and Nigerian striker Blessing Eleke scored one each for the Slovenian side but the comeback did not materialise as Trencin held on for a 4-3 win and four away goals heading into the second leg.
