Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hopes an ankle injury sustained by Emre Can in the EFL Cup against Burton on Tuesday does not turn out be serious.
Can, who started as one of four changes to the Reds side that lost at Burnley on Sunday, had to be taken off after 71 minutes of Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of Burton in the EFL Cup second round.
Klopp’s side were already 3-0 up when Can pulled up following an awkward stretch towards the ball and was replaced by youngster Kevin Stewart. NaijaBet.com
But Klopp said: “I saw the situation. He stretched himself, and he had an issue with his ankle, so that’s what is most concerning at the moment
“But it is not that serious. It’s not that big of a pain any more, but it’s the ankle he had problems with at the end of last season, so he’s a little bit worried. Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”
Can was joined from the start by James Milner, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi, who scored along with Roberto Firmino, two strikes from substitute Daniel Sturridge and an own goal from Tom Naylor.
