The midfielder has returned early from international duty with Croatia but, despite Zinedine Zidane’s warnings that he should not have been risked, he feels fit to face Atletico.
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has returned to the Spanish capital and pledged to be fit for the derby against Atletico Madrid.
Modric completed 45 minutes for Croatia in their 2-0 World Cup qualifying win against Iceland on Saturday but will not take part in a friendly with Northern Ireland on Tuesday.
Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane suggested earlier in November that Croatia should not call up the 31-year-old in light of his recent recovery from a knee complaint but he appears to have suffered no ill-effects.

Fellow Blancos midfielder Mateo Kovacic has also returned from Croatia duty.
