Goalkeeper Ahmed El Shenewy has been ruled out of Afcon 2017, according to Egypt media officer Inas Mazhar.

“The doctor examined him this morning and diagnosed him with a right hamstring tear which causes him a lot of pain and he needs at least up to three or four weeks which means he is out of the competition,” she said.
This leaves Egypt coach Hector Cuper with just one option of Essam El Hadary after Sherif Ekramy also suffered a left hamstring over the weekend.
Egypt team doctor Mohamed Abu El Elaa will continue to monitor Ekramy’s situation.
