Gerard Pique admits he trolls Spanish teammates in Barcelona-Real Madrid WhatsApp group

Gerard Pique has revealed he regularly ridicules his Spanish teammates who play for Real Madrid in a WhatsApp group.

Barcelona are currently 15 points clear of Real Madrid at the top of La Liga and look set to secure a historic 25th Spanish top-flight title.

Writing for The Players’ Tribune, Pique explained how he started a WhatsApp group for Spanish players from both Barcelona and Madrid earlier this season.

And the Spain international says he and his Barcelona teammates are the ones laughing at the moment. NaijaBet.com

“All we do in that group is talk s**t to one another about Barça and Real! It’s the best,” wrote Pique. “We’re just like little kids.

“And the truth is, it’s especially hilarious for me right now because now we’re up 15 points on Real in the league. So I’m getting very creative in my responses.

“Last season, when the Real guys were winning everything, they were feeling pretty good. They were talking s**t constantly whenever I saw them at national team training. NaijaBet.com

“Man, every time they won a match last season, they were posting shirtless photos on Instagram from the locker room. Remember that?

“They were smiling and flexing their muscles like The Rock and saying #HalaMadrid and posting little trophy emojis. This season, though, it’s a different vibe.

“All their Instagram photos are looking very sombre. ‘3 points today. We must keep working harder!’ So I’m texting them in the WhatsApp group, ‘Come on guys, why so serious?!’ Then I put a little crying emoji, and a laughing emoji.

“I even made a special name for the group. It’s called: CONGRATULATIONS.” NaijaBet.com

Barcelona vs Real Madrid 2017-18 in numbers

Barcelona pulled away from their fierce rivals very early in the campaign, so Pique has likely been laughing for some time.

Real Madrid (73) have only scored one goal fewer goal than Barcelona (74) in La Liga this season. NaijaBet.com

But their defence has been considerably worse, conceding 33 goals to Barcelona’s 13.

As a result, Madrid have lost five of their 29 matches, while Barcelona are yet to lose a league game this term.

A 3-0 away win at the Bernabeu all but ended Madrid’s title chances as early as December.

However, both sides remain in the Champions League, so Zinedine Zidane’s men may eventually be given the opportunity to get revenge on Barcelona and Pique. NaijaBet.com

The Barcelona defender will have the chance to mock his Real Madrid compatriots in person over the international break, with reigning World Cup champions Germany their first opponent on Friday evening.
