On-loan Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic would “love” to stay at Fulham

Newcastle United striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has said he “would love” to stay at Fulham beyond this season.

The 23-year-old Serbian marksman is currently on loan at the west London club with his present deal at St James’ Park set to expire in June 2020.

Mitrovic relocated to Craven Cottage in January, linking up with compatriot Slavisa Jokanovic the Fulham boss. Because of their warm relationship he says he would love to remain, though it could be dependent on Jokanovic’s own future. NaijaBet.com

“If there is any chance, I would love to come back here,” he told the Sun.

“I would love to stay but we have to finish the season well first, to be where we want to be and then there’s the World Cup.

“My agent will be working on all that. But, yes, I have a manager here who wants me — although maybe it all depends if Slavisa goes to Real Madrid…” NaijaBet.com

How has Mitrovic fared at Fulham?

Ever-present since joining, the Smederevo-born footballer has featured across 11 Championship matches, registering eight goals (a goal every 105 minutes) and one assist.

In those 11 outings Fulham, who are chasing a return to Premier League football, would collect eight victories and draw the remaining three.

Since joining Newcastle from Anderlecht in the summer of 2015, Mitrovic would go on to feature on no fewer than 72 occasions for the Magpies bagging 17 goals and 10 assists. NaijaBet.com

His last appearance was a two-minute cameo in their 2-3 defeat at home to Leicester City.
