Mohamed Salah should accept an offer from Real Madrid immediately, according to Mido

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido believes compatriot Mohamed Salah should leave Liverpool for Real Madrid if the opportunity arises.

Salah, 25, is enjoying a more than productive first season with the Reds after joining from Serie A giants Roma for a reported £36.9 million last summer, and his performances recently earned him the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.

Mido, who made 94 Premier League appearances and registered 22 goals, feels Salah’s stock is so high that Real or Barcelona could make a move and if that comes to pass, the Egyptian has advised him to make that switch.

“With all due respect to Liverpool and his fans, Salah should immediately accept any offer from Real Madrid or Barcelona,” he told ON Sport.

“He has been amazing with Liverpool the entire season, and could be very useful in La Liga especially with Real Madrid who are suffering from Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema’s horrible form this season.

“With his quality and pace, it should be easy for him to make it in La Liga.

“I’ve been there for a while, and I can say that the likes of Salah have a huge chance to succeed alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and the stars of Real Madrid.”

Salah’s wonderous season

An ever-present under the leadership of Jurgen Klopp, Salah has registered 41 goals across 46 matches for Liverpool whilst assisting a further 13 for his teammates.

His goal against West Brom over the weekend moved him five goals ahead of Tottenham Hotspur marksman Harry Kane in the race for this season’s Premier League golden boot – Salah, with three matches left to play, has 31 goals to his name.

It meant he equalled the best return across a 38-Premier League season. A record shared with Alan Shearer (Blackburn Rovers, 1995/96), Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United, 2007/08) and Luis Suárez (Liverpool, 2013/14).

Elsewhere, he’s set a new record for the most games scored in during a Premier League season (23) and is closing in on becoming Liverpool’s most prolific goalscorer in a single campaign – the present record is held by club legend Ian Rush, who bagged 47 during the 1983/84 season.

Salah will be hoping to add to his tally when Liverpool take on Roma at home Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
