Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and since Roman Abramovich took over as owner, they have been getting showered with trophies season after season despite managerial instability.

For a club like Chelsea, having a big squad is a must because they constantly compete for the Premier League title, FA Cup, and European competitions as well.

The current Chelsea squad is not enough in numbers, though, and some players are out on loan and the ones who manage to stay are not good enough to play as back-up players for Chelsea’s stars.

In their current squad, they only have three wingers in Willian, Eden Hazard, and Pedro.

The Belgian international, Hazard, who has two years left on his contract is refusing to sign an extension, as he is aware of Real Madrid’s interest in him and he wants to see in which direction the club is heading and who all are the players coming in this summer.

Willian’s future has been in the air, as Jose Mourinho is eyeing a reunion with the Brazilian, while Pedro has stated that he will be at Stamford Bridge next season but he has been inconsistent throughout the campaign.

Thus keeping in mind the current situation Chelsea will have to buy new wingers and here are 5 wingers Chelsea should target.

#1 Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund)

The Dortmund winger is just 19 years old and he has made quite a name for himself. He came through the youth ranks of the Dortmund academy and now he has become a regular for the German team.

The Sun has reported that Chelsea are willing to use Michy Batshuyi, who is on loan at the Westfalenstadion, as a part of the deal which would see Chelsea offering cash plus the Belguim to tempt Dortmund into selling the American. 

Again this season, he managed to make 42 appearances for the club and he often stepped up for them in the big games as well.

With the uncertainty over the future of Hazard and Willian, Pulisic should be a good signing for the Blues. He just 19 years old and he is likely to improve with age as well and if Hazard leaves he would be a perfect replacement for their talisman. 

Dortmund, over the years, has become a very weak club who sell their top players and no longer challenge for trophies. While for Chelsea they always win trophies and this could tempt Pulsic to move to London and win more trophies in his career.

#2 Anthony Martial (Manchester United)

Anthony Martial was, at one point of time, the most expensive teenager in the world when Manchester United signed him in 2015. He also revealed, at the time, that he rejected Chelsea for the Red Devils.

After three years, he must be regretting his decision. Since the arrival of Mourinho at Old Trafford, the Frenchman has found game time limited and with the arrival of Alexis Sanchez, he has featured very less for United. 

Chelsea are said to be interested in signing the former Monaco forward. Also, he has just one year left on his contract which expires in 2019 and despite being rivals, Chelsea have a good relationship with Man United regarding transfers, as they signed Juan Mata and Nemajic Matic from Chelsea.

Martial would be a wonderful addition to Chelsea’s squad and he already has Premier League experience as well. At the age of 22, he is not even close to reaching his peak and is likely to perform at high level for years to come. Also, he would be more of a goal-scoring threat going forward compared to Willian and Pedro. 

At Stamford Bridge, Martial is likely to get more playing time and recently he was omitted from the France squad going to Russia. There is no denying that the former Lyon winger is talented, but he is unlikely to be a starter until Mourinho leaves United and it would be better for him to move and boost his career.

Chelsea could just be the perfect place for him.

#3 Malcom (Bordeaux)

The Brazilian is just 21 years old and despite the constant crisis at Bordeaux, he has been a constant bright spark for the Ligue 1 side. His performances have earned made him the tag one of the hottest properties in Europe.

This season, he has scored 12 goals and 8 assists in 38 appearances and he has been constantly linked with top European clubs.

The Blues have reportedly entered the race for the former Corinthians winger, his agent already had a meeting with the London based club, as he looks to engineer a move away for his client this summer.

In Chelsea’s current roster, there are no left footed attacking players, and Malcom could add more versatility to this Chelsea attack. He can use his left foot to cut inside and create space for his team to operate.

Bordeaux owners have already indicated that the Brazilian might leave this summer and the chance to challenge for major trophies at Chelsea should tempt him to make a move to Stamford Bridge.
