Matteo Darmian hints at Man Utd exit: ‘Juventus interest good to know’

Manchester United’s Italian full-back Matteo Darmian has hinted at an exit this summer amid reported interest from Juventus.

Darmian, who joined in 2015 for a fee of £13 million, has struggled to make an impression on the first-team at United this season, making just five Premier League appearances compared to the 18 he made last term.

The full-back was quick to deny that he regretted his decision to join United saying, as reported by gianlucadimarzio.com: “I am living a great experience that I would do again, I’m part of one of the biggest clubs in the world so I’m very proud of this and of the fact that it allowed me to win many important trophies like the FA Cup and the Europa League.

“We are (just) missing (out on the title) but now let’s finish the season in the best way, then we will make the necessary evaluations.”

With reported interest from Italian giants Juventus, the defender who joined United from Torino back in July 2015 for around £12.7m admitted he was flattered by the interest of such a world-renowned club.

Asked about interest from Juventus, he said: “It’s just that pleasure. Juve is a great club but I have my goals in mind and I will do the necessary evaluations in due course.” NaijaBet.com

Darmian believed that although it was difficult to lose the title to a local rival the experience will make him a stronger player going forward.

He added: “Losing the title in favor of City is never nice, especially if you play for United. There is a great rivalry between the two teams. I am living a season that from the point of view of character is strengthening me.” NaijaBet.com

When asked if he found not playing difficult to take, Darmian was respectful in his response, saying: “You cannot always play There are so many variables in this sport. There are the choices of the coaches and I have always respected them. I have also worked a lot and I hope that in the future my sacrifices will be repaid with the chance of winning the Italian championship.”

Manchester United’s defeat at home to West Brom handed the Premier League title to Manchester City on Sunday but the United full-back thinks his side can bounce back.

“[Man City] were made champions, unfortunately we did not win, we wanted the 3 points to continue our journey but unfortunately they did not arrive and mathematically City won the championship,” he explained.

“The derby is a game of its own, it was a great comeback for how it was after the first half and there was satisfaction at the end of that race, but yesterday it was a game like that, we did not play at our best, we knew that West Brom needed some points but we did not manage to win. NaijaBet.com

“(We now) look straight away on Wednesday because there’s another game, football is nice for that too, because it gives us the opportunity to redeem ourselves immediately “.

Manchester United face a trip to Bournemouth on Wednesday evening before hosting Tottenham at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final on the weekend. NaijaBet.com
