Jurgen Klopp’s bizarre reason for not wanting to manage in Serie A

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has ruled out coaching in Italy anytime soon because of his dining habits.

The Reds meet AS Roma with both teams looking to progress into this season’s Champions League final which takes place in Kiev on 26 May.

Ahead of their semi-final first-leg showdown at Anfield the German tactician was asked during his pre-match press conference if he’s considered working in Serie A before dismissing the idea.

“Ooh, I don’t think it’s a good idea for any Italian club to work with me because I only know to order spaghetti in a restaurant,” he said. “Not in the next four years, that’s for sure”.

Liverpool’s season so far

Klopp was appointed Reds manager in October 2015 following the sacking of Brendan Rodgers and would subsequently guide them to two finals, in the League Cup and Europa League, both of which they ultimately lost.

This term, Liverpool were eliminated from the Carabao Cup early having been beaten by Leicester City while West Brom ended their participation in the FA Cup at the fourth-round stage.

Given how this season has panned out, the chances are Liverpool will endure another trophyless season, unless they secure a sixth European Cup next month.

So far they’ve played 50 matches in all competitions winning 29 (58%) and losing just the six. In the process, the Reds have registered 123 goals (one every 37 minutes) and conceded 53 (or 1.06 per game).
