Mohamed Elneny will miss the rest of the of the season after sustaining ankle ligament damage in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over West Ham United on Sunday, Arsene Wenger has revealed.
The Eqyptian midfielder was stretchered off just before half-time during Arsenal’s first match since Wenger announced he will leave the club at the end of the season.
On Monday, Arsenal confirmed Elneny had damaged ligaments in his left ankle, but suggested the 25-year-old could return before the end of the campaign.
A future Arsenal regular?
Elneny has made 13 appearances in the Premier League this season, just one more than he has made in the Europa League.

In the Premier League this term, Elneny has made more successful passes per 90 minutes (80.07) than Aaron Ramsey (51.17), Granit Xhaka (74.42) and Jack Wilshere (50.78).
Providing more balance to the Arsenal midfield, he would have been likely to start against Atletico alongside Xhaka in a deeper role.
