Trent Alexander-Arnold: “We’re really happy to be playing with him rather than against him”

Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has revealed how difficult it is facing Mohamed Salah during the club’s training matches.

The young Englishman has enjoyed a fantastic breakout season and his side are on the verge of securing a place in the Champions League final, after humbling Roma 5-2 in the first leg of their semi-final match at Anfield.

Alexander-Arnold has played a key role in the club’s European ascent this season despite his Egyptian teammate stealing the headlines, and such is the brilliance of Salah that the 19-year-old has admitted he faces problems trying to contain the winger in training.

“During the week it’s a nightmare because you’re up against him [In training]. Sometimes I don’t really like him because what he does to me,” he told reporters, via Goal.

“That’s what he does day in, day out. It’s just become second nature to him now and it’s a credit to him.”

Salah has been in formidable form this season, and Alexander-Arnold further declared his relief in not having to face the 25-year-old in competitive fixtures.

He added: “We’re really happy to be playing with him rather than against him.”

Currently leading the chase for the Premier League Golden Boot with 31 goals, Salah’s performances have also seen him claim the PFA Player of the Year accolade this week.

Liverpool face Premier League strugglers Stoke City this weekend with manager Jurgen Klopp likely to rotate his side in preparation for the Reds’ second-leg tie against Roma in the Italian capital on Wednesday night.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also suffered a season-ending injury in the first leg, while Sadio Mane looks to have suffered an injury too, which will cause further changes to be made in the starting line-up.
