Arsene Wenger still good enough to manage PSG, says Unai Emery

Arsene Wenger still good enough to manage PSG, says Unai Emery

Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery believes that departing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could one day manage the French club.

Wenger announced he will leave the Emirates at the end of the season after growing frustrations from the Arsenal fanbase, as the club have failed to make the top four for a second consecutive season.

Even though the Frenchman is certain to leave north London at the end of the season, reports have suggested that he has no intention of filing away his book of tactics just yet. Check this out.

Emery has also been tipped to depart PSG when the Ligue 1 season concludes, and former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel is the frontrunner to replace the Spanish tactician.

However, Emery thinks that Wenger has the ability to take charge at Parc des Princes before he calls time on his career.

“He is a reference for the world of football and us coaches. He has given inspiration to this sport,” he told a news conference, reports Goal.

“Every year, a dozen coaches meet in Nyon and Wenger is a reference for all of us. He has always spoken well of me.

“I have great admiration for him as a person and as a coach. He has the quality and the experience to coach the best teams in the world, like PSG.”

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal legacy in numbers

Wenger will leave the club he has managed for over 21 years at the end of the season, having enjoyed immense success during his time in north London. Under Wenger, Arsenal won the Premier league in 1997/98, 2001/02 and 2003/04, while during the latter, the team went undefeated in the league, earning the name ‘the Invincibles’.

The Gunners have failed to recapture that glory in the last 15 years, as the club have endured their longest period without winning the league since going 17 seasons devoid of the title between 1971 and 1989.
