Christian Eriksen declares commitment to Spurs despite Denmark boss’ Madrid claim

Christian Eriksen says he is happy at Tottenham despite suggestions he is good enough to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid.

The Dane has made 217 appearances for Spurs since arriving from Ajax in 2013, scoring 53 goals. NaijaBet.com

Eriksen’s national team manager, Age Hareide, recently claimed the 26-year-old would be a welcome addition at Barcelona or Madrid, suggesting he is better than former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.

But Eriksen has insisted he is happy at Spurs and that there are no offers on the table from either of the La Liga giants.

“To be honest, I do not think like that [about leaving in the future],” he told Danish outlet BT.

“You play football in the present, but you also have dreams. Dreams are one thing, but what is realistic is an offer on the table.

“Right now, I think most people are very happy to be at Tottenham, and so am I.”

Eriksen’s season in numbers

Eriksen was a relatively consistent performer during his first three years at Tottenham, but he has hit a new level over the last two seasons. NaijaBet.com

The attacking midfielder has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions so far this term – his two goals at Swansea last weekend secured Spurs’ place in the FA Cup semi-finals, where they will face Manchester United at Wembley.

Only three players have made more key passes than Eriksen (57) in the Premier League this season: Kevin De Bruyne (66), Mesut Ozil (63) and Cesc Fabregas (61). NaijaBet.com

Since becoming a Tottenham player in 2013, Eriksen has provided 46 league assists – only Ozil (50) has provided more in that time.

Eriksen’s Denmark take on Panama on Friday, where the Spurs man will be hoping to orchestrate the game as he has been doing for Tottenham.
