Etuemene talks with Watford

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Heartland are on the verge of sealing a partnership deal with English Premier League side, Watford Football Club.

The chairman of the Owerri outfit, Hon Goodfaith Chibuzo Etuemene, who has been on tour of Europe looking for investors in a bid to turn around the fortune of the Naze Millionaires made this disclosure on Thursday from the United Kingdom.

Etuemene said he had fruitful discussions with Watford FC President, Raffaele Riva, where both clubs plan to exchange programmes adding that Watford officials will soon visit Owerri to watch Heartland Feeder team in one of their trainings. Naijabet

“I had fruitful discussions with the president of Watford FC on Wednesday evening and he accepted to work with me especially on the feeder team while promising to see them train in Owerri.

“The partnership with Watford if sealed will bring the EPL side to Owerri among other technical and capacity building workshops to assist the club.

“I also held talks with Super Eagles power playing forward, Odion Ighalo before meeting with the Watford President and Sporting Director, Raffaele Riva,” said Etuemene to supersport.com.

Etuemena is also expected to hold talks with reigning English Premier League champions, Leicester City before returning to Nigeria next week.

Recently the Heartland boss revealed that the team will play an international friendly with a Turkish side, Kahramanmaras Sporting Club as part of preparations for the league season next year.

Heartland will be the guests of Sunshine Stars in Sunday’s all-important NPFL matchday 33 clash at the Akure Township Stadium.
