Ex-Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb joins BATE Borisov for the fifth time

Alexander Hleb has rejoined Belarusian football side FC BATE Borisov for an incredible fifth time in his professional career. 

The Belarus international has returned to his boyhood club after a career spent playing football at some of the highest levels.

The ex-Arsenal player started his career at BATE back in 1999 and has since gone on to play for the yellow & blue a further four times in 2012-13, 2015, 2016, and now in 2018. 

In between his time spent at BATE, Hleb has played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Stuttgart (2000-05, 2009-10), Arsenal (2005-08), Barcelona (2008-09), and Wolfsburg (2011).

Hleb’s career in numbers

Following impressive spells with BATE and Stuttgart, Hleb joined Arsenal in 2005 and went on to make 119 appearances, scoring ten goals. NaijaBet.com

He left Arsenal for Barcelona in 2008. The midfielder spent just one season at Camp Nou, but it was a successful one – he ended up collecting La Liga and Champions League winners’ medals.

Hleb has been named Belarusian footballer of the year six times in his career (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008), making 77 appearances for his country and scoring six goals.
