Hazard can become an England legend like me, says Gianfranco Zola

Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola believes that current star Eden Hazard can also become a legend of the club.

Signed for £32 million back in the summer of 2012, Hazard has gone on to become one of the most effective and talented players in world football.

Having been voted in four PFA Team of the Year awards to date, the Belgium international has gone on to make 299 appearances for the Blues, scoring 88 goals and assisting 75 times.

Despite constant rumours linking him with a move away from Stamford Bridge, Hazard’s performances have rarely wavered and his relationship with the clubs supporters is still held in high regard.

Former Chelsea striker Zola – who scored 69 goals in 282 games for the club – believes that if he continues to impress, perform and win more titles with the club, then Hazard will truly turn into one of the greatest players in the history of Chelsea football club.

“It is a pleasure for whoever loves football to enjoy watching Hazard,” Zola told Goal.

“I am very glad that he plays for Chelsea.

“I am glad he improved on my records and I hope he is going to double them up, triple them up and it is good to see somebody who plays football so well.

“For him, it is good and it gives continuation to the club and supporters. I really wish so [that he can achieve my status].

“I have been liked for a long time and people appreciated not only what I gave on the pitch, but the fact that I spent such a long time at this club. For Eden, I think it is going to be the same.

“There will come a moment for him where he gets a lot of commendation for this. You are always very happy when you see his commitment and passion for the club that you play for, so I am very, very happy about that.”

Hazard will turn out for Chelsea one last time this season as they face Manchester United in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.
