Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain‘s World Cup could be in doubt after the Liverpool midfielder was injured in the club’s 5-2 Champions League win over Roma.
To make matters worse, Oxlade-Chamberlain had to be taken away from the pitch on a stretcher by Liverpool’s medical staff.
And now, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed the midfielder could be out for a while.
“Oxlade-Chamberlain is probably a really bad injury,” he told BT Sport after the game, as reported by BBC Sport.
“That is bad news for us. The squad doesn’t get bigger at the moment so we need to be creative in the next few games.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain will likely go for a scan over the coming days to confirm the extent of his injury, but with England manager Gareth Southgate set to name his squad for the World Cup in just over a month, the Liverpool man may not make the final 23.
The midfielder originally moved to the Reds from Arsenal last summer but received criticism for his lack of impact at the start of life at Anfield.
