Neymar, 26, became the world’s most expensive player last summer after Paris Saint-Germain triggered his £198m activation clause, though the capital club’s talisman has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent months.
One player who would love to see Neymar don the famous white strip of Los Blancos is Brazilian compatriot Marcelo, though he insists he hasn’t tried to influence the forward’s decision.
Both Marcelo and Neymar were named in Brazilian manager Tite’s 23-man squad for the World Cup this summer, but the left-back has revealed that talk in Russia will be solely fixed on the tournament and not on club football.
Marcelo told reporters: “The best come to Madrid and I would love to play with Neymar.
“When I talk to Neymar, I’m not talking about Real Madrid or leaving PSG.
“We will be in Russia to play something very important.
Neymar has been out of action since February having undergone surgery on a broken metatarsal bone in his right foot, though he is expected to be back in time for the prestigious tournament next month.
Meanwhile Marcelo played in his 450th Real Madrid match over the weekend, as Los Blancos humbled Celta Vigo 6-0 despite the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Brazilian had two reasons to celebrate on Saturday as he also turned 30, but his attention will be quickly drawn to Real’s final La Liga match of the season this weekend as the club take on Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
