Steven N’Zonzi forced to apologise to Sevilla fans after post Copa del Rey partying

Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has apologised to supporters after being seen partying following their 5-0 Copa del Rey final defeat against Barcelona.

Vincenzo Montella’s men were humbled by the soon-to-be Spanish champions and their followers in attendance at the Wanda Metropolitano made their feelings known at full-time.

Instead of keeping his head down, N’Zonzi was spotted at a nightclub just hours later, understandably this caused an uproar which the French midfielder has since apologised for.

“I want to apologise to the Sevilla fans,” he said in a video published on the club’s official Twitter account.

“I made a mistake because I left after the game. It’s difficult for everyone, for us too. What happened is also difficult for the players. We play every three days, I live alone, I train and I go back home.”

“I am always at home. Yesterday my family and friends were there and I left,” he added.

“The most important thing is health. If we are in good health, life is not bad. It’s a difficult day, we’ve reached the final and we’re still working.”

NZonzi’s future

In a recent interview with Canal Football Club, the former Stoke City and Blackburn player expressed his regret in not completing a move to hometown club Paris Saint-Germain last summer.

The 29-year-old, who grew up in La Garenne-Colombes, a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, sees his present deal with Los Nervionenses expire in June 2020.

Since joining from Stoke in the summer of 2015 he’s become integral to Sevilla’s fortunes, helping them win a Europa League title in 2016.
