Europa League 2018 semi-final draw in full: Arsenal face Atletico

Arsenal have been drawn against Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the Europa League.

The first leg will be played at the Emirates Stadium on April 26th, the first ever competitive meeting between the sides, before the return leg on May 3rd in Madrid.

In the other semi-final, Marseille have been drawn against Red Bull Salzburg – the French side will play at home first.

Arsenal beat CSKA Moscow 6-3 over two legs to book their place in the semi-finals.

The Gunners won the first leg 4-1 at the Emirates but were given a scare in the second leg as CSKA took a two-goal lead.

But goals from Danny Welbeck from Aaron Ramsey secured the aggregate victory for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Atletico also survived a scare in Portugal, losing their second leg against Sporting Lisbon 1-0 but going through by a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.

Meanwhile, Salzburg and Marseille managed incredible comebacks against Lazio and RB Leipzig to reach the semi-finals.

Salzburg went 5-2 down on aggregate in the 55th minute against Lazio, but 20 minutes later the Austrian side were 6-5 ahead.

Marseille beat Leipzig 5-2 on Thursday night to seal a 5-3 aggregate victory.

Worst draw possible?

It’s safe to say the majority of Arsenal fans are not confident about progressing to the final.
