Gary Neville backs reports Jose Mourinho could axe Pogba and Sanchez for Man Utd v Spurs

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville approves of suggestions Jose Mourinho could decide to bench both Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez against Tottenham this weekend.

United travel to Wembley to face Spurs in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. The winner will face either Chelsea or Southampton in the final. Before then, they play Bournemouth in a midweek Premier League game, ahead of which Mourinho told the press any players left out of his starting XI will be excluded due to concerns over form, rather than fitness.

The FA Cup is now the only competition United can win this season after they finally conceded the Premier League title to arch-rivals Manchester City.

United lost to relegation-threatened West Brom 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday to confirm Pep Guardiola’s side as English champions for this season, with several stars coming under criticism over a perceived lack of form and application.

Two United players who have deserve such scrutiny are Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez.

That is, at least, according to former Red Devils right-back Gary Neville, who responded to the suggestions Pogba and Sanchez may be dropped for the upcoming cup game with a simple tweet from his official account reading, “Good!”

When quizzed by United fans as to why he thought it was “good” that those two players, in particular, should miss out on the United starting eleven come Saturday, Neville argued that other teammates have proved more worthy of a starting berth over recent weeks.

Neville tweeted back saying: “[Have] you watched them recently! If they play hope they play well but you couldn’t argue against Rashford, Martial, Mata, Lingard etc in front of them!” NaijaBet.com

United’s next league fixture takes place tonight away to Bournemouth, where they will hope to recover from the disappointment of last weekend to strengthen their chances of finishing second in the league come the end of the season.

They are only one point ahead of third-placed Liverpool, although the Red Devils do have a game in hand on Jurgen Klopp’s men.
