Jupp Heynckes: Real Madrid have “absolutely no chance” of signing Lewandowski

Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has played down speculation linking striker Robert Lewandowski with a move to Real Madrid this summer.

The veteran tactician will be stepping down at the end of the season, but he has been keen to assure Bayern fans that their talented marksman Lewandowski will remain with the club past the summer.

Lewandowski’s future at the Allianz Arena has been the subject of much uncertainty in recent months, with Spanish giants Real rumoured to be interested in the Polish forward. NaijaBet.com

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Bavarian’s Champions League clash with Sevilla tomorrow night, Heynckes is quoted as saying: “Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has already made this clear: Real Madrid have absolutely no chance of acquiring Robert.”

Real Madrid are currently third in La Liga, 13 points adrift of eternal rivals Barcelona at the top of the league, and Zinedine Zidane will be looking to bolster his attacking options this summer with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema entering their twilight years.

Robert Lewandowski would be a good fit for Los Blancos having scored 26 Bundesliga goals this season, including a hat-trick at the weekend in Bayern’s Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund.

The Pole will be looking to add to his five Champions League goals this campaign as Heynckes’ side take on Sevilla on Tuesday night.
