Jurgen Klopp names the Roma player he enjoys watching the most

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he’s a fan of AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash.

The Reds and Roma meet at Anfield for the first leg on Tuesday evening with both teams overcoming tournament favourites Manchester City and Barcelona in their quarter-finals respectively

And Klopp, during his pre-match press conference, has revealed how Roma has constantly been on his screen and the familiar face of Dzeko brings a smile.

“I saw a few Roma games and I know Edin Dzeko from Germany and I like watching him to be honest,” he told reporters, via BBC Sport.

“Nobody thought after the first result that they can have the kind of comeback against Barcelona because it’s not usually possible.”

On the nature of the semi-final, Klopp said: “Obviously for Roma, it’s a semi-final which is a big thing for them like us, they not used to it like us and you will see two excited teams and that’s good for football.”

Dzeko in Rome

Dzeko initially joined Roma on a season-long loan in August 2015 which turned out to be a success, and he’s remained in The Eternal City ever since.

So far he’s made 133 appearances for the club in all competitions, registering 69 goals and creating a further 27 for his teammates.

The native of Sarajevo is the present Capocannoniere (title awarded to the highest goalscorer of each season in Serie A) recipient having bagged 29 goals across 37 matches last season.

To date, he’s produced 14 goals in 32 league outings this campaign with a further six coming in the Champions League including two one in each leg of their quarter-final win over Barcelona.

It remains to be seen whether Dzeko can strike for Roma at Anfield Tuesday night in the Champions League semi-final first leg.
