Juventus director hopes to announce Emre Can signing after the Champions League final

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta has said he is “confident” the signing of Emre Can from Liverpool will be announced after the Champions League final.

German midfielder Can, 24, has been linked with a move to the Piedmont club all season with talks breaking down over a new contract at Liverpool.

And now the director of the Turin-based giant, Giuseppe Marotta, has suggested the capture of Can is nearly over the line, saying, as reported by Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano: “I’m confident we’ll be able to announce Emre Can signing after Champions League final.”

It remains to be seen whether the player bought from Bayer Leverkusen in 2014 for just under £10m will ultimately make the move or not.

The arrival of Naby Keita, however, may soften the blow should the German international leave for Italy, while Klopp will likely be entrusted with more funds to spend on reinforcements in the summer transfer window.

Emre Can travels with Liverpool squad

Despite the suggestions that Can is on the verge of joining Juventus, he has nevertheless been included in the squad for Liverpool’s training camp in Marbella.

The Reds have flown to Spain for a four-day trip, where Klopp will prepare his side for the Champions League final tie with Real Madrid.

Can, who has been out with a back injury since March, will join his teammates as he continues to return to fitness, though he remains a serious doubt for the final in Kiev on 26 May.
