“See you next October” – Thomas Muller’s hilarious farewell message to Jupp Heynckes revealed

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed the amusing farewell message Thomas Muller left for retiring manager Jupp Heynckes.

Heynckes, 73, will be stepping down as Bayern manager at the end of the season, marking his final stint in charge of the Bavarians, and in commemoration for his services to the club, the players left individual departing messages for the veteran tactician.

And while most wrote a sincere and heartfelt message for Heynckes, Bayern legend and vice-captain Muller had different ideas.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told reporters, according to German publication Bild: “We have an obligation and responsibility to win the double for our coach.

“He has his very last game of his career. After that he will definitely finally retire.

“We had to make a collage of goodbye messages, and every player had to write a message. Thomas Müller wrote: See you in October.”

The joke comes after Heynckes was appointed head coach of Die Roten for the fourth time in his career after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked in November.

Having endured a torrid start to the season under the Italian coach, Heynckes has led the club to a 27th Bundesliga title, while they also face Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Cup final on Saturday.

Heynckes will be facing the new manager of Bayern Munich Niko Kovac – who will take over from the 73-year-old at the end of the season – when the former Croatian international leads his Frankfurt side out at the Olympiastadion Berlin.

Should Heynckes lead Bayern to glory, it will be his second DFB-Pokal cup win in charge of the Bavarians, adding to his four Bundesliga titles, one Champions League trophy and three DFL-Supercups.
