Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne believes that teammate David Silva is deserving of winning the Premier League Player of the Year award, after voting for Liverpool rival Mo Salah.
However, before that, City face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday evening in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, with De Bruyne and Silva lining up against Reds star Salah, who – like both City players – has been in prolific form this season.
In an interview with BT Sport ahead of tonight’s fixture, De Bruyne was asked who he voted for and why: “I vote for Salah. Yeah.
“Because he deserves it. If it’s no one from our team then I think he deserves it.” NaijaBet.com
The Belgian midfielder explained: “No, I think I don’t like at what happened before. I wouldn’t know how to choose anybody else outside Salah if it’s not our team.”
“I’m honest about voting.”

Rules state that a player cannot vote for a teammate to win the award, with De Bruyne revealing that his vote for Player of the Season would go to his teammate Silva if possible, who he described as “one of the best”. NaijaBet.com
“He can make the difference every time he wants to,” he explained.
“I hope he can do what he’s done all season because when he plays we often win. I hope he’s in good form tomorrow.
When asked about his own form, De Bruyne admitted that this season is probably his most consistent at the highest level and that he is proud of what he has achieved this year: “[This is] Probably the most complete. NaijaBet.com
“That’s what I’m most pleased with.”
