Mauricio Pochettino has urged for patience and calm following Tottenham Hotspur‘s 2-1 loss in their FA cup semi-final with Manchester United, while also suggesting his position at the club isn’t nailed on in the future.
Spurs have now lost eight FA Cup semi-finals in a row – the last time they won a semi-final was in 1991 at the expense of local rivals Arsenal.
The former Southampton manager said, via football.london: “The most difficult thing in football is to be realistic. Tottenham is a completely different club to others and in the past four years we have been in a process.
“The challenge was to be competitive and then reduce the gap to the top four. In the last few years we were competitive, winning a trophy is not easy.
“To create that winning mentality, Tottenham need more time, with me or another, to keep developing that philosophy. “
How Twitter reacted to Pochettino’s comments
This is how Twitter reacted to Tottenham missing out on another opportunity for silverware, with the majority of Spurs fans pretty cut up by another last-minute omission from the FA Cup.
Much of Twitter consisted of fans of other clubs tearing into Spurs, however.
They next host Watford on Monday Night Football in a weeks’ time.
