Neymar accused of “spitting” on PSG in wake of title win

Former France striker Christophe Dugarry has accused Paris Saint Germain star Neymar of “spitting” on the club’s recent title win.

PSG sealed the Ligue 1 title in emphatic style by defeating league rivals and second-placed side AS Monaco 7-1 at Parc des Princes on Sunday evening, prompting the visitors to offer a refund to travelling fans.

It means the capital outfit have won the league with five matches left to play, and are are now a whopping 17 points clear of Monaco.

Neymar, who has been absent with a sprain of the right ankle and fissure of the fifth metatarsal since late February, was not in attendance at the stadium to see his club confirmed as champions.

Instead, he posted various images online of himself and his friends playing poker at his home rather than any messages of celebration in relation to PSG’s title-clinching match. NaijaBet.com

Dugarry has openly criticised the Brazilian, stating that he thinks the club should be angry with the way Neymar has seemingly ignored the football club’s success.

Speaking on RMC Sport, Dugarry said: “How could Neymar not be there with his teammates with the title at stake?

“They’ve given him the role of leader and he doesn’t even come to share in the win?

“How is it possible that PSG can accept that? How can he look his teammates in the eye when he behaves that way?

“He’s spitting on the club. I think it is outrageous. If he was at Barcelona, he would have returned with no problem.

“If I was at PSG, I’d be very angry.”

Dugarry continued, revealing that he was completely against players who put their own individualistic desires ahead of their teams, and that PSG will have no chance of greater glory within Europe unless they eradicate such behaviour.

He added: “I can’t stand those players who are only worried about themselves because it is the collective which wins games.

“It is never individual players… and yet people think that PSG can win the Champions League with attitudes like that!”

PSG’s next game is on Wednesday, a semi-final in the Coupe de France, away at Caen.

Meanwhile, Neymar, who has scored 20 goals and assisted another 13 in Ligue 1 this season, expects to make his return for PSG’s final game of the season against Caen in French football’s top division. NaijaBet.com
